Reporter President, Pakistan Sikh Gurdwara Parbhandak Committee (PSGPC) Pardhan Tara Singh has said that the establishment of Guru Nanak Dev International University will promote Sikh-Mulsim friendship across the world.
Talking to media here on Sunday, he said the establishment of the university would strengthen Pakistan’s ties with the Sikh community across the world, adding that Pakistani Sikh community was more than happy with the efforts of the provincial and the federal governments for the welfare of the Sikh community in Pakistan.
To a question, Pardhan Tara Singh said the Sikhs across the world were thankful to Pakistan for protecting their religious places and providing them access, adding that more and more Sikh students would be able to benefit from the Guru Nanak Dev International University, Nankana Sahib.
The Pakistani Sikh leader expressed joy over end to rumours that the Guru Nanak university campus was being shifted to some other city than Nankana Sahib. He said the propaganda had died down after the constitution of a committee under the chairmanship of Federal Minister Barjees Tahir which would present its recommendations regarding the establishment of the university in Nankana Sahib.
Chairman Evacuee Trust Property Board (ETPB) Siddiq ul Farooq, on Sunday, constituted a committee to present recommendations for the establishment of the Guru Nanak university in Nankana Sahib with federal minister Barjees Tahir as its convener and MNA Dr Shizra Mansab, Advisor to Punjab Chief Minister Rana Muhammad Arshad, MPAs Malik Zulqarnain Dogar, Ramesh Singh Arora and Rubina Asif as members and the committee would submit its recommendation within four weeks.
He said the bill was with the cabinet division for federal charter and would be presented to the parliament soon.
Tara Singh thanked all sections of society from Nankana Sahib including the lawyers, civil society, lawmakers, business community for the unconditional support for the establishment of Guru Nanak university in Nankana Sahib.
