GU financial problems to be resolved: Fazl

Jamiat Ulema-i-Islam-Fazl (JUI-F) Chief Maulana Fazal Rehman on Tuesday underlined the need for taking solid measures to promote research-based knowledge for addressing socio-economic problems of society.
During his visit to Gomal University, the JUI-F chief said the youth who were considered as future leaders of a country should be geared up for successfully facing modern day’s challenges, so educational institutions should come forward by promoting research-based education among its students to achieve the objective.
He assured that every possible step should be taken for resolving financial problems of the Gomal University, which was effectively contributing towards national development process through imparting quality education.
He urged the university management to work out research projects and added that he would extend his full cooperation for arranging financial resources to implement those projects.
He said the federal government had been approached for mitigating financial crisis of the university, which would, hopefully, be released a grant, in this regard, he added.
He said institutions should be development without any prejudice and under the same layer of thinking Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif during his visit here announced to establish Mufti Mehmood Agriculture University in the district, which would bring educational revolution in the region. Project Director Prof Dr Ejaz Ahmed Khan briefed him about the progress on preparing PC-1 of the proposed university project.
Maulana Fazal Rehman expressed satisfaction over pace of progress with regard to the establishment of the agriculture university, saying it would help a great development in promoting research-based innovations to give boost to the country’s agriculture sector.
Later, the JUI-F chief, flanked by vice chancellor Prof Dr Muhammad Sarwar and other officials of the university, was taken round to various departments of the university where he was briefed about all relevant issues.—APP
