Sindh Minister for Women Development Department (WDD) Syeda Shehla Raza has said that the provincial government will protect the poor and needy women at every level.
She stated this while presiding over the 2nd Consultative Meeting for Finalizing Strategy & Action Plan for Women Protection Unit held here on Wednesday.
Shehla Raza said that the WDD was working on maximum legislation and strengthening the women segment to provide all required help and legal assistance to them.
A memorandum of understanding (MoU) was signed between WDD and Lawyers for Human Rights and Legal Aid (LHRLA) to provide legal, psychological, medical, and other rehabilitative services for the survivors of gender-based abuse.
Secretary WDD Baqaullah Unar and President LHRLA Zia Ahmad Awan signed the MoU.
According to the MoU, the LHRLA will collaborate with the WDD in many projects by international organizations; shall share its data reports and case studies with the Department and support in effective programming and legislation, will provide capacity building in areas of gender based violence and against women.
The WDD will also recognize its role, facilitate, shall allow and support to LHRLA into violence issues.
