Govt to change Thar people’s lifestyle: Murad

Karachi—Sindh Chief Minister Syed Murad Ali Shah has said as per reports received to him, 150 dengue fever cases have been reported in Tharparkar and most of them were referred to LMC Hyderabad and they returned home after their proper treatment.
Only 10 patients are admitted in Civil Hospital Mithi and they are being given proper treatment till date, he said. This he said while presiding over a meeting on the development schemes of Thar at new Secretariat on Tuesday, said a statement.
On his instructions the directorate of dengue has purchased 17000 dengue kits, out of them 1000 kits have been handed over to DHO Mithi while the government has sent seven ULV fumigation machines to DHO Thar. The elected people ensure proper fumigation and distribution of 74000 mosquito bed nets.
He said that the DHO has fumigated 40 villages and further fumigation would be done on the pointation of the elected representatives and concerned health officers. The CM Sindh was given also briefed on the water supply schemes and RO plants.
He said that he would visit Tharparkar shortly and would hand over RO plants to concerned local bodies so that they would be made functional in the larger interest of the people. Addressing the meeting the CM Sindh said that his government was committed to change lifestyle of people of Thar by providing them necessary facilities, including water, health, infrastructure, transport, electricity and job opportunities.
Therefore, all the elected people right from local bodies to National Assembly and Senate should play their due role through monitoring and coordination, he said. Briefing the CM Sindh, Additional Chief Secretary (Dev) Mohammad Waseem said that 17 on-going schemes of Rs 2076.351 million would be completed by the end of June 2017 for which Rs 963.945 million have ben released so far against which Rs 323.783 million have been utilized.
There are 55 on-going district specific schemes launched for Rs 10498.383 million against which Rs 8138.9 million have been released so far and the utilization is Rs 3793.343 million. Apart from them there are 46 multiple districts schemes of Rs 4436.04 million for which Rs 2247.183 million has been released so far and the expenditures are Rs 734.742 million.
The CM Sindh was informed that two dams, Kalidas and Veeera Wah in Nagarparkar area have been launched for Rs703.37 million on February 18, 2015. Total expenditures on the project has been made Rs 35 million. The elected representatives of the Thar area said that both the dams which are actually weirs were very necessary for the area.
The CM Sindh directed his principal secretary Naveed Kamran Baloch to coordinate between irrigation and finance departments so that this project could be expedited. The road sector schemes of Rs 57.915 million five km road from Wori Dhora Road to Saringhiar taluka Chhachhro, Rs 353.659 million 24 kilometer road from Hirar Chandia to Koro village, 30 kilometer road from Khensar to Khiro Varyam launched for Rs 431.378 million, Rs 130 million Chhachhro Wicholo Paar road to village Pin Pario via Chhachi and some others roads are almost at the final stage.
The CM Sindh directed Muhammad Waseem and Secretary Works and Services Aijaz Khan to expedite work on these roads and conduct their quality inspection.
The meeting was attended by Senator Engineer Gianchand, MNA Noor Ahmed Shah, MNA Faqir She Mohammad Bilalani, MPAs Dost Mohammad Rahmu, Dr Mahesh Kumar Malani, Khatu Mal, Chairman District Council Ghulam Hyder Samejo, Vice Chairman Karami Singh.
Among the officers who attended the meeting include Additional Chief Secretary (Dev) Mohammad Waseem, Principal Secretary to CM Naveed Kamran Baloch, Secretary Finance Hassan Naqvi, Secretary Works & Services Aijaz Memon and other senior officers.—APP
