Govt taking measures for revival of sports: Pirzada

Islamabad—Minister for Inter Provincial Coordination, Riaz Hussain Pirzada Thursday said the government was taking various measures for revival of supports activities in the country.
He was responding a calling attention raised by Senators Mushahid Hussain Syed and Mian Muhammad Ateeq Sheikh towards the decline of sports in Pakistan which was reflected in recent Olympics.
The minister said there was no shortage of talent in the country, saying the National Cricket Team had shown tremendous performance in last T20 match with England.
He said first time in the history his ministry had organized Quid e Azam Games in the country in which a about 2500 athletes participated.
He said several games having talent in the country were closed due to technical or religious matters.
The minister said the trends of having teams of banks and schools have been removed and this was the reason the new players batch were not being introduces.
He said the government was vigilant and aware about the issues of various players. The operation Zarb e Azb, he said, had produced positive results to restore sports in the country.—APP
