Punjab Minister for Primary & Secondary Health Khawaja Imran Nazir has said that government is taking effective measures to control such contagious diseases which spread from animals to human.
He said that joint programme would be launched with the collaboration of veterinary science experts for improving human health.
He stated this while addressing inaugural session of 3-day International Conference on the subject of “One Health” organized by the Higher Education Commission and Punjab Agriculture Research Board at University of Veterinary Sciences, Lahore.
Vice Chancellor Prof. Dr. Talat Nasir Pasha, Prof. Dr. Abdul Shakoor, Prof. Dr. Faiz Qamar and other faculty members were also present on the occasion.
A large number of researchers, scholars, scientists working in the field of poultry, wildlife, fisheries, livestock and representatives of pharmaceutical industries from USA, Germany, Egypt, Bangladesh, Turkey, Bahrain, Indian, Sudan, UAE are participating in the conference.
The main objective of the conference is to improve human as well as animal health by improving medicines and environmental sciences for which collaboration in the field of research would be enhanced. Kh. Imran Nazir said that government would provide all out help for evolving scientific strategy for controlling transfer of contagious diseases from animals to human.
The scholars would read out their research papers in the conference during which more than twelve technical sessions, questions-answers sessions and posters exhibitions also be held.
The Minister Health also took a round of the stalls in the exhibition.
He said that international conference would provide local as well as international experts / scientists to exchange their knowledge and experience which would provide them opportunities to learn from each other.
