PCSIR, RCCI sign MoU to improve exports

Rawalpindi—Federal Minister for Defence Production Rana Tanveer Hussain, Friday, said that with main focus on industrial sector, government was striving hard to improve the economy; however, decline in exports was alarming. Addressing the signing ceremony of a memorandum of understanding between Rawalpindi Chamber of Commerce (RCCI) and Pakistan Council for Scientific and Industrial Research (PCISR) here the Federal Minister said that Government had introduced friendly export oriented policies. Energy was the key issue which was improving day by day and industries are being provided load shedding free gas and electricity.
He urged traders to explore new markets and new sectors. Central Asian states have a huge market. Gem and Jewelry, marble and Pharmaceutical can play a vital role here, he added. He suggested that PCSIR should come forward and hold awareness sessions across the chambers. He appreciated RCCI’s role in promoting business activities through exhibitions and exchange of delegations. Rana Tanveer Hussain, Federal Minister for Science & Technology and Defence Production was the chief guest on the occasion. Speaking on the occasion Federal Minister Rana Tanveer said that Government is striving hard to improve the economy and its major focus is the export industry. For the recent years there is a drop in exports which is alarming.
Chairman PCSIR Dr. Shahzad Alam said that high quality along with certification is required to boost exports and meet the challenges of global competitors. PCSIR is providing high quality testing and certifications to the industries and we cover minerals, metals, glass, marble, precious stones, herbal medicines, electronics and textile. Businessman and industrialists can avail their services and as a result they can earn good money. Earlier, President RCCI Mian Humayun Parvez in his address welcomed the honorable federal minister and apprised him about the RCCI current and future events. He said that RCCI has been playing its due role in boosting the business activities in the region.
