Govt speedily promoting education

Sialkot—Federal Minister for Planning and Development Ahsan Iqbal on Saturday stressed the need of providing equal education op-portunities to male and female students belonging to urban and rural areas.
He said the PML-N government was striving to curb darkness of ignorance through spreading light of knowledge and education as per vision of the government by promoting public-private partnership in the education sector.
He said this while addressing the participants of a prize distribution ceremony held at Govt Muslim Postgraduate College for Women Narowal here. He distributed stipends among the brilliant and deserving students under the Punjab Education Endowment Fund.
Ahsan Iqbal urged teachers and parents to also focus on character building of students and stressed upon the need of bringing about a change in our social attitude towards the promotion of quality education for all.
He said students were future of the country and all of us should secure their educational future by ensuring their easy access to quality education.
He also stressed collective efforts for promotion of education to enhance the literacy rate. He said there was an immediate need to root out illiteracy at grass roots level to bring about radical changes in every sphere of life.
MPA Khawaja Waseem Butt, Deputy Director Colleges Narowal Murad Ali Gondal, College Prin-cipal Raheela Riaz and senior officials of Punjab Education Foundation (PEF) were also present.—APP
