Lahore—Providing women with basic rights, employment opportunities, and better environment for working women is the top priorities of the government.
Provincial Minister for Human Rights and Minority Affairs Khalil Tahir Sandhu has expressed these views during a meeting with women delegation belonging to civil society.
The minister said that Punjab government has allocated huge budget for the development of women, education, health, agriculture and record budget for the people of Southern Punjab in 2016-2017 Budget. Moreover, budget has also been increased for human rights and minority affairs as compare to last year’s budget.
Khalil Tahir Sandhu said that Punjab government has allocated record budget in the upcoming year for progressing the people belong to far flung areas, uplifting the living standard of people and providing people with basic facilities of life.
He said that Punjab Government is working for the rights of women, their property transfer issues, employment opportunities, and creating better environment for the working women.
Khalil Tahir Sandhu said that in the upcoming year budget the quota for women has been increased up to 40 percent for self rozgar scheme. Moreover, female student from class 6th to metric will be given scholarships and 548 help desk are being installed for the women to visit police stations.
He said that 24 crore has been allocated for women protection center Multan which will be completed with the end of this year. He said that under the vision of Chief Minister Punjab to provide women with their basic rights work is being carried at all stages. For employment of women in Punjab age has been increased for more three years moreover quota for them has been increased up to 15 percent.
