Govt to promote literary, cultural activities: Shahabuddin

Member National Assembly Pakistan, Muslim League- N from Bajaur Agency Shahabuddin Khan has said the federal government was taking all out efforts to promote literary and cultural activities in tribal areas.
He said this while addressing at a literary session at Bajaur Pashto Adabi Malgari organized the event, aimed at welcoming the spring season here at Khar on Sunday. Poets, writers, literary figures, political workers, tribal elders and officials of the local administration attended the event that was chaired by noted poet and writer Rahmat Shah Sail.
The poets among them were Rahmat Shah Sail, Anwar Nigar, Aziz Menriwal, Aslam Salik, Prof Nawaz Yousafzai, Ghafar Toofan, Kashif, Anwar Ali, Iqabal Shakir and Mohammad Ishaq presented their pomes and ghazals regarding peace and spring on the occasion.
Shahabuddin Khan said that the present federal government was committed to promoting cultural and literary activities in tribal areas as such activities were necessary for the promotion of peace and stability in the region.
He said that literary and cultural activities not only important for promoting peace and stability but also necessary for improving soft images of the tribal areas. He said the federal government is making all out efforts to promote cultural and literary activities in tribal areas to boost peace in the region.
The speakers on the occasion highlighted the significance of literary sessions and termed such activities essential for restoration of peace and promoting tolerance and harmony among the society. Later, a poetry recitation session was also held, where a number of poets present their poems regarding peace and spring on the occasion.—APP
