Govt prepares comprehensive ToRs on Panama Papers: Anusha

Islamabad—Minister of State for Information Technology and Telecommunication Anusha Rahman Khan Sunday said the government had framed comprehensive Terms of Reference (ToRs) on Panama Papers while those of the opposition parties were biased and person-specific.
Talking to media, the minister said that opposition parties had exempted their party leaders in the ToRs, whose names were also mentioned in Panama Papers. The accountability should be carried out against all those who allegedly have offshore companies according to the Panama Papers, she added. She said Prime Minister Muhammad Nawaz Sharif had written a letter to the Chief Justice of Pakistan to head the judicial commission to probe the Panama issue. Although his name was not mentioned in the Panama Papers yet the Prime Minister had presented himself and his family for accountability, she added.
Anusha Rahman said that the Prime Minister had declared his assets through tax returns. Replying to a question, she said urged PTI chief Imran Khan to stop the politics of allegations. Imran Khan should focus on the welfare of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa as his party’s government there had failed to deliver.
Meanwhile, Jamiat Ulema-e-Islam-Fazl (JUI-F) chief Maulana Fazlur Rehman Saturday said the opposition’s Terms of Reference (ToR) were not in line with the Constitution and law. Talking to the media here, he said the opposition wanted to make the ToRs as controversial. Their demands must remain within the parameters of Constitution.—APP
