Govt policies attract over 1.2m tourists in GB


Governor Gilgit Baltistan, Mir Ghazanfar Ali Khan has said Gilgit Baltistan was an ideal place for tourism where more than 1.2million foreign and domestics tourists came last year owing to better security and goal oriented policies of PMLN Government. The Governor expressed these views was talking to a delegation of Ministry of Information, Broadcasting and National Heritage, Islamabad led by Principal Information Officer (PIO), Muhammad Salim Baig here at Governor Secretariat.
The Governor said arrival of such a large number of tourists to Gilgit Baltistan has clearly reflected the return of complete peace to the province, which was possible due to foolproof security and enhanced economic policies of the PMLN Government. In Gilgit Baltistan, he said, media sector has made great progress and very active that was possible due to encourage media sector to grow further in the province.
He said GB Govt strongly believed in freedom of media imperative for strengthening of democracy and democratic institutions in the country. The Governor said journalism was the forth pillar of the state and journalists’ role is like a bridge between Government and people pertaining to education and dissemination information among citizens. Like other sectors, he said, journalism sector was also growing fast in the province evident from publishing of daily, weekly and monthly newspapers through which people are getting timely information about country, regional and international’s issues.
While appreciating responsible role of journalists of GB, the Governor said despite limited resources, the media persons were excellently playing professional responsibility and their abilities was not lesson than from others journalists of the country. At was the main reason that journalism have made unprecedented growth in the province during last two years and journalists community role in establishment of durable peace here was praised worthy.
PIO Muhammad Salim Baig said they have visited GB on the directives of Minister of State, Marriyam Aurangzaib to meet with journalists’ community besides appraising themselves from their problems. The Ministry of Information and Broadcasting would take every possible efforts for solution of problems of journalists and would organize different types of trainings programs at Islamabad to further enhance their professional skills.
