Govt making all out efforts to improve inadequate public health services: Murad

Jamshoro—Chief Minister Sindh Syed Murad Ali Shah said that the provincial government is making all out efforts to improve the inadequate public health services by removing all hurdles which intercepting the people to have free access for availing these facilities.
He expressed these remarks while speaking as chief guest at the inaugural session of the 4th International LUMHS Dental Conference ‘Maxillofacial Trauma and Rehabilitation under Multidisciplinary Approaches’, at Liaquat University of Medical Health sciences (LUMHS), Jamshoro, on Friday.
The aim of organizing symposium is mainly focused to update the health professionals, specially working in the rural and remote areas to manage the cases of Maxillofacial Trauma promptly, in a proper and scientific way.
Syed Murad Ali Shah underlined the need of reducing prevalence of communicable diseases; address the inadequacies in the primary and secondary health services. He also emphasized the need of removal of professional deficiencies, promotion of greater gender equity, bridging the nutrition gap, enabling the rural population to get quality treatment at its doorsteps, creating awareness of community health and teaching the masses that prevention is better than cure.
He said that both the provincial and federal governments are striving to take up these enormous challenges adding that it was also necessary for the state to keep the noble profession of doctors and nurses at the highest podium of our social standards.
Syed Murad Ali Shah said that there was also a need to invest more in the dental institutions and equip them with the latest tools so that they were able to produce quality Scientists and doctors.
The allocation of more resources in form of generous scholarships were also required enabling the bright and young doctors to pursue higher qualifications, he said. CM Sindh said that investing on research and creation of new knowledge was the need of the hour.
He said the globalization of knowledge was no longer a trend but a priority for institutions and research centers, allowing knowledge to be shared by all and making technology available to all professionals. He was of the view that oral health was an integral part of general health and well being and a basic human right.
Many oral diseases were preventable and considerable improvements could be made if appropriate public health programmes were established. The Chief Minister further mentioned that the issues raised by the conference this year deserve praise and compliment. Unfortunately, the statistics of fatal traffic accidents and causalities are very high in Sindh and most of the causes are vehicle colliding, speeding and avoiding precautions driving measurements, he added.
He said that the progress made by Liaquat University of Medical and Health Sciences, in the field of Research and medical education is unparalleled. He said that this is the thought, the vision, the leadership which today witnesses that Liaquat University of Medical and Health Sciences is legend, trained settler and stands in the row of world class universities.
He hoped that Vice Chancellor LUMHS Prof. Dr. Noshad A Shaikh and his team will continue to strive to keep up this University. Syed Murad Ali Shah paid glowing tributes to Shaheed Mohtarma Benazir Bhutto and said that she was the true leader of the people who as ‘Messiah’ strived to stitch the oozing cuts of the nation and in doing so breathed her last on the operation table.
He said the Sindh Government is giving top priority to improve health and education sectors according to desires of Shaheed Mohtarma Benazir Bhutto who always strived to provide maximum facilities to the common man on their doorsteps.—APP
