Govt interested in early completion of Safari Park

Lahore—Provincial Minister for Forests and Wildlife Malik Muhammad Asif Bha Awan has said that Prime Minister Muhammad Nawaz Sharif and Chief Minister Punjab Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif are taking keen interest in early completion of Model Safari Park being constructed in Jauharabad.
Expressing indignation over laxity by Provincial Buildings Department, he directed that the work should be completed at the earliest and coordination be made with the other concerned departments.
The minister told that this safari park would be unique than other parks of the country and maximum recreational facilities would be provided in it.
He said that this was the only great park of the country which was nearer to the city and people of Jauharabad would easily visit the park on foot. He told that this park would be completed in 2017 at every cost.
Deputy Director Wildlife Rana Shehbaz Khan gave a detailed briefing to the minister and DG Wildlife Khalid Mehmood.
Later, the work being carried out in the park were reviewed in detail.
DG Wildlife directed XEN Buildings Provincial to immediately review the funds and works of current financial year and submit a report so that funds could not be lapsed.
It was told during the briefing that Secretary Forests has also visited this park and only those trees were cut which are creating hurdles in the construction of the park while other trees will be protected.
It was told that Rs 201 million has been approved for construction of this work.
The construction work of the park was started in April 2015 and April 3, 2017 has been fixed as completion date.
Moreover, Rs 60,414,000 have been spent so far. XEN Provincial Buildings assured that the funds received this year will be spent in stipulated period and every effort will be made to complete the work of this year.—APP
