Sialkot—PML-N bigwigs failed to transfer power and funds at grass roots level as compare to Musharraf regime after passing local bodies election near a year, sources privy to political parties revealed to Pakistan Observer on Monday.
Local bodies elections have been held in Punjab in December last year but even passing a year, govt did not transfer powers in a sense to elect Mayor, District Chairman etc. On the other side, funds also not transfer to local bodies representatives for development of their localities.
Sources confided that top brass of PML-N did not want to transfer funds and powers to local bodies representatives due to their own political interests. Sources said that parliamentarians of PML-N strongly opposed transfer of powers to local bodies representatives during a party meeting in Islamabad.
They of the viewed that if power and funds transferred to local bodies representatives than MPA’s and MNA’s automatically went behind the curtain.
They suggested that next phase of grass roots level power should hang in the air to give an opportunity to parliamentarians to run general election 2018 campaign. In this whole scenario, billions of rupees went into basked that spent for conducting local bodies election.
