The government is committed to protect rights of people as insured in the constitution of the country and being responsible citizens it is our collective responsibility to change our social behaviour.
This was stated by Dr. Nadeem Shafiq Malik, Chairman, National Council of Social Welfare chairing a seminar titled ‘International Human Rights Day and Our Social Responsibilities’ organized by National Council of Social Welfare. Representatives of the civil society, NGOs, students intellectuals, prominent human rights activists and other stakeholders attended the seminar.
Lectures were given by the representatives of both public and private sectors by the prominent intellectuals on the protection of human rights.
In his presidential address Dr. Nadeem said that without following human rights no society will survive. It is our social responsibility to respect emotions and thinking of the everyone. He said that he Constitution of Islamic Republic of Pakistan was in accordance with the religious injunctions and guarantees fundamental rights to its citizens.
‘The Government of Pakistan is also aware of its international responsibilities being a signatory of the international declaration of human rights,’ he said.
