SHANGLA—Governor Khyber Pakhtunkha, Engineer Iqbal Zafar Jhagra has said that the newly established Shangla Campus of Swat University in District Shangla carries a lot of expectations.
“I am sure it will meet the challenges of present day age and to contribute significantly towards development of the region in particular”, he said. He was addressing the inaugural ceremony of Shangla Campus of Swat University at Alpuri in District Shangla on Sunday. The Governor also addressed a big gathering of elders and people of the area as well. Engr. Ameer Muqam, Advisor to Prime Minister, MNA, Dr. Ibadullah and District Nazim, Niaz Ahmad Khan were also present on this occasion.
Vice Chancellor, Swat University, Prof. Dr. JehanBakht, highlighted salient features of their achievements as well as potentials for future development of the institution and its prospective role in ushering progress of the area.
While referring to focus of the government on promotion of higher education, the Governor mentioned the Prime Minister Fee Re-imbursement scheme; Prime Minister Laptop Scheme; Youth Business Loan Scheme; Interest Free Loan Scheme for Students; Skill Development Program for Youth and the Youth Training Schemes. He said all such programmes were meant to facilitate the students. The Governor promised to ensure provision of 100 laptops for students. Iqbal Zafar Jhagra hoped that the campus will rapidly achieve the objective of providing quality education in this remote area of the province.
The Governor said, it reflects their spirit and enthusiasm and keen interest towards ensuring better future for their children and the area as well. Referring to various demands and proposals put forward in the welcome address, the Governor assured to extend every possible support to the institution in its future endeavours.
While addressing the public gathering the Governor also promised to take necessary steps for evaluating establishment of a cadet college in district Shangla.Earlier, the Vice Chancellor of Swat University welcomed the Governor and presented a report regarding newly established campus at Alpuri District Shangla.
He also put forward certain demands and suggestions to ensure provision of quality knowledge and development of economic activities in the area.
