Chief Minister Punjab Muhammad Shahbaz Sharif held a detailed meeting with Governor Punjab Rafique Rajwana, here Monday.
During the meeting, matters of mutual interest including development schemes and the ongoing public welfare programs for the Southern Punjab came under discussion.
Speaking on the occasion, the Chief Minister said, a new history of public service by following the principles of honesty, trust and hard work had been written by the Punjab government and every step of the government was taken for the prosperity of people. “It’s time to maintain unity and cohesion instead of disunity and Pakistan shall be moved forward by promoting the passions of national unity and brotherhood,” he added.
He said, the Punjab government had speedily completed different mega initiatives in the province to provide relief to the people, adding the development of southern Punjab had been given particular importance. More funds were provided for development schemes as compared to the population ratio in southern Punjab. Such schemes had been accomplished for the development of southern Punjab having no resemblance in the past.
He said thousands of kilometres long rural roads had been constructed and repaired at a cost of billions of rupees under Khadim-e-Punjab Rural Roads Program. Meanwhile, he said, initiatives like Daanish schools, mobile health units and other mega welfare programs were also started in the southern Punjab.
Regrettably, he said, the past rulers befooled the masses of southern Punjab with hollow slogans and tall claims and took no practical steps to end the deprivation of the area. Similarly, the rulers belonging to the southern Punjab also badly ignored this area. However, the incumbent government had completed many mega projects for the development of southern Punjab and to improve the quality of the life of the people. “The public welfare projects started by the PML-N government in the southern Punjab have no resemblance in the 70 years history. The people of southern Punjab have reposed their confidence over the PML- N and they will do so in future as well,” said the Chief Minister.
Governor Punjab Rafique Rajwana said the PML-N government had taken revolutionary steps for the development and well-being of the southern Punjab by providing additional funds amounting to billions of rupees.
He said Chief Minister Shahbaz Sharif personally supervised every mega initiative of southern Punjab and had served the people of southern Punjab in real sense. “That is why, the people of southern Punjab enthusiastically love the Chief Minister Shahbaz Sharif,” concluded the Governor.
