Government attaches importance to quality education: Governor

Lahore—Governor Punjab Malik Muhammad Rafiq Rajwana Monday said that present government always attached great importance to the provision of quality education to all segment of the society especially students hailing from far flung areas of Gilgit Baltistan,Baluchistan,Khyber Pakhtun-Kawa and southern Punjab.
Speaking as chief guest at the inaugural ceremony of newly renovated “West Hall” of the Foreman Christian College University,here he said that its fundamental right of every citizen to acquire modern knowledge of his choice in Pakistan and for the attainment of this objective,present government has set aside billions of rupees for providing the best educational facilities to all strata of the society irrespective of color,creed,religion and cast.
He said that “ He is proud to be a formanite and lived in corner room of same hostel on upper flood in early 70s whcih i still remember gold old days of life”.He said hostel warden used to visit the students room frequently to check their presence and always disciplined with them for meeting future challenges. Governor said that Rector FCCU Dr.James T Tebbe told him that varsity has also introduced foolproof procedure for the grant of needy and merit scholarship to deserving students to enable to them pursuit of knowledge without any financial constraints.
Rector Dr.James T Tebbe speaking on the occasion said that the dream of renovation of West Hall could only be materialised with the grant of Punjab government.He said now FCCU has emerged one of the most prestigious and modern leading seat of learning of the sub-continent where over 6800 students are getting world class education under the supervision of highly qualified faculty.
He thanked the Governor for gracing the occasion with presence and hoped that he will continue to extend full support to noble cause of institution for better education. Earlier,Justice (R) Khalil Ur Rehman,a formanite speaking on the occasion urged the government to execute on priority the remaining part of complete decentralisation of this varsity. Later,Governor Malik Muhammad Rafiq Rajwana along with faculty members visited his room where he used to live during his study at FCC.
Prof Dr.Hamid Saeed,Registrar,Chairam Mitchell’s Fruit Farm Syed Muhammad Mohsin,Director Security and Safety Col Rana Khaqan Mahmood,Head of Communication and Publications Ms Michelle Jacob and other senior galaxy of formanites besides Dr.Waqar Ch,Resident Editor,Pakistan Observer,Lahore were also attended the event.
