Girls’ boxing tournament concludes

Karachi—Aimed at encouraging participation of women in sports, K-Electric, in collaboration with District South Boxing Association, organized Girls’ Boxing Tournament 2016 at National Coaching Centre here.
A statement said that the initiative made K-Electric the first corporate entity in the country to organize a female boxing tournament at any level.
It said the hotly contested one-day tournament came to a close after a strong display of courage, strength and combat by 20 contestants from all over Karachi.
The young boxers played 10 bouts of 3 rounds each. Boxers Fatima Nasir, Sehar Suhail, Warda Rafi, Nida Kazi, Nimra, Ariba Rafi, Khadija, Zaibun Nisa, Gul Saba, Sawera Khan emerged victorious. The winners and runners up were awarded cash prizes.
On this occasion, KE spokesperson congratulated all the contestants and said that the utility has a strong affiliation with sports and has always been at the forefront to nurture youth- providing them with the resources and guidance to inspire future sportspersons.
By organizing this boxing tournament, the utility has provided a strong platform for these girls to harness talent and demonstrate their skills.
