German varsities, AWKU to coop in research activities

Peshawar—German Ambassa-dor to Pakistan Ina Lepel Thursday said that German Universities and Abdul Wali Khan University (AWKU) would cooperate with each other in pro-motion of research activities, saying Wali Khan Varsity in short span of time developed itself into a reputed education institute.
She said that German Universities under an agreement with Abdul Wali Khan University would jointly work in different sector of research. She said this during her visit to the AWKU in Mardan Thursday wherein she visited various faculties including Central Library and Admin Bloc.
The German diplomat took keen interest in the central library and held a meeting with the Ph.D scholars, educated from Germany. Vice Chancellor AKWU Prof. Dr. Ehsan Ali and Director QEC Shiraz Paracha, Head of Press and Culture Section and First Secretary Development German Embassy were present on the occasion.
Briefing the German delegates, the VC in-formed that there were 167 Ph.D faculty members in the varsity while 87 faculty members have been provided foreign Ph.D scholarships.
Later the German Diplomat also visited Takht-e-Bai archeological sites and obtained briefing by the Curator AKWU Museum Mehr Taban. The German Diplomat highly appraised the historical heritage and held it as the best preserves remains of the ancient Gandhara civilization. Vice Chancellor Dr. Ehsanullah presented shield to the visiting German Ambassador as a memento of his visit to varsity.—APP
