Berlin—Chief of Army Staff General Raheel Sharif discussed bilateral relations and regional security with German Foreign Minister Frank-Walter Steinmeier on Tuesday.
“Germany understands Pakistan’s challenges and assured full support to Pakistan’s efforts for stability and peace in the region,” the ISPR quoting the German foreign minister said on Tuesday.
“General Raheel explained in detail the challenges faced by Pakistan and contribution towards peace and stability in the region.”
The army chief, the military’s media wing said, informed the German foreign minister Pakistan was successfully closing up to the conclusion of military Operation Zarb-e-Azb.
“Have cleared entire Fata up to borders, also busted their linkages and networks,” he said.
The COAS also sought support of the international community in Pakistan’s efforts to eradicate terrorism.
“Moving beyond this critical stage will require greater understanding and support of International community. We have sacrificed immensely, more than any other nation. World needs to stand by us till dividends are fully realised,” he said.
“Terrorism has morphed into a global phenomenon and warrants global response. In order to effectively win, synergy by all required,” the army chief said.
The army chief held an interactive session in Koerber Foundation, a renowned German think tank in Berlin, added the statement.
