GCP take Inter-College Boys Cricket Trophy

Peshawar—Govt College Peshawar clinched the trophy of the BISE Inter-College Boys Cricket Tournament after defeating Govt Higher Secondary School No. 1 Charsadda by 25 runs in the final played here at BISE ground on Saturday.
Govt College Peshawar won the toss and elected to bat first by setting up 114 runs wherein openers Mohib Ullah and Azam scored 43 and 30 runs respectively.
For Charsadda Murad, Imran and Shahid took two wickets each. In reply, Govt Higher Secondary School No. 4 Charsadda failed to chase the target and were bundled out for 89 runs. Shahid made 31 runs and Iftikhar scored 29 runs, none of the other batsmen could cross the double figures. For GCP Azam and Jehangir took three wickets each. Earlier, in the semi-final GCP defeated Islamia College by seven runs in a dramatically ended encounter. GCP scored 140 runs for the loss of eight wickets, and in reply Islamia College bundled out for 133 runs.
Principal Prof. Dr. Fazali Subhan was the chief guest on this occasion and before the start of the final match the players of both the finalist teams were introduced to him. Director Sports BISE Manzar Khan, Director Sports GCP Zafar Iqbal and organizing secretary Hassan Khan were also present on this occasion.—APP
