The federal government has released special development grant of Rs 3 billion for the reconstruction of 29-km-long Sialkot-Pasrur Road. According to officials of the National Highway Authority (NHA), the road would be converted into a four-lane super highway and its construction would begin in December 2017. The project would be completed in six months till end of June 2018 under the supervision of the NHA. The officials said that 10 water channels would also be constructed along the super highway for spilling out of rain and flood waters. They added that 10 bridges would also be established over the road to ensure a smooth flow of traffic.
National Highway Authority is considering to extend Lahore-Sialkot Motorway to Kharian by building a new motorway from Sialkot to Kharian under Build-Operate and Transfer (BOT) basis. The National Highway Authority (NHA) had issued tender for consultancy services for feasibility study and preliminary design for Sambrial-Kharian Motorway Project under Public Private Partnership arrangement, an official of NHA told APP on Sunday.—APP
