French Govt issues 12 scholarships for PCMD-KU

Karachi—French government has issued 12 scholarships for development of the faculty at Dr. Panjwani Center for Molecular Medicine and Drug Research (PCMD), University of Karachi.
Pak-France Initiative will soon emerge for the promotion of science and technology in Pakistan. This will further strengthen the bilateral relations in the field of science and technology between both the countries.
This was decided in a meeting of Pakistani and French scientists held at PCMD-KU here on Monday.
Director International Center for Chemical and Biological Sciences (ICCBS), University of Karachi, Prof. Dr. M. Iqbal Choudhary. presided over the meeting, which was attended by Prof. Dr. Georges Massiot, Prof. Dr. Eric Dufourc, and Prof. Dr. Bruno Figadere from France. Some other ICCBS officials also attended the meeting.
It was also decided in the meeting that engineering staff of the Dr. Panjwani Center will also be sent France for technical training.
Later, speaking at the special scientific session on ‘French Excellence in Science’ held at Prof. Salimuzzaman Siddiqui Auditorium, Prof. Dr. M. Iqbal Choudhary said that ICCBS and French research institutions have deep-rooted strong mutual research tradition.
During the last many years, hundreds of French scientists visited ICCBS-KU for pursuing their educational and research goals, he said, adding that this is an excellent opportunity for young researchers, students and faculty members to learn from the French scholars, and get information about the exciting science and technology research by the eminent scientists from France.
‘Pakistan and France need to develop more academic collaborations in days to come. Pakistan appreciates French authorities’ endeavors to award scholarships for Pakistani scholars’, he said.—APP
