Karachi—Glowing tribute was paid to Muhammad Zakir Ali Khan in a ceremony held by Aligarh Muslim University Old Boys’ Association (AMUOBA) and his services and work in the field of Urdu literature and education were highlighted by the eminent scholars.
Speaking on the occasion, Sir Syed University of Engineering and Technology (SSUET) Chancellor and President AMUOBA, Jawaid Anwar said freedom of expression promotes healthy trends in the society because intellectual evolution of a man is connected to the independent thinking.
As we know history is a tale of development, so we are endeavouring to create new history through development work.
He said Muhammad Zakir Ali Khan was a multidimensional personality and an illustrious name in the field of Urdu literature. In recognition of his important work in Urdu literature, Aligarh Muslim University bestowed him with the first Sir Syed Ahmed Khan International Award for Literature.
His writings are filled with the experiences of life and sincerity. His well known book Riwayat e Aligarh is a valuable gift for students as it is important for their character building and personality making. It is a very interesting and informative book that truly reflects the traditions and trends of Aligarh culture.
Assuring that the new management of Sir Syed University gave top priority to the issues of employees, he said “Employees will soon get benefited with medical insurance and revised pay scale.
Around 150 adhoc workers have been regularized and due promotions were given to the deserved employees without any delay. Construction of Block ‘E’ is complete and it is now to be called as Z. A.Nizami Hall and it has also been proposed to call Block ‘F’ as Muhmammad Zakir Ali Khan Hall.
Highlighting the performance and work done during the brief period of 4 months, Chancellor Jawaid Anwar said, “We have done many important works in this brief period.
Admission process completed very smoothly and peacefully in this year. Students are now following university’s discipline and instructions. Efforts are being made to bridge the gap between the two and necessary steps have also been taken to restructure and reorganize the departments of Quality Enhancement Cell and Faculty Development on modern lines to improve the quality and skills of teachers with modern teaching methodology.
Giving more importance to students counseling and career guidance, Career Planning and Placement Bureau is being made more effective and vital.
Earlier Muhammad Arshad Khan, General Secretary AMUOBA said tragic aspect of our society is that we don’t pay due respect to the person and acknowledge his work when he is alive. Muhammad Zakir Ali Khan’s work and services for AMUOBA are unforgettable.

Vice Chancellor Hamdard Univesrity, Prof. Dr. Abdul Hannan said Muhammad Zakir Khan was very dedicated to his cause and the Association and he kept all Aligs united through his writings and high morals. Renowned journalist Mehmood Sham said that we are unfortunate to secure our legacy and its continuation.
Zakir Ali Khan had command over Urdu and he presented the events and environment in a very easy and effective way. Eminent researcher Khawaja Razi Haider, distinguished poet Jazib Qureshi and Erum Akbar Ali also spoke on the occasion.
