Free wheat distribution in Mithi continues

Mithi—The 8th round of free distribution of wheat was continuing in a transparent manner in Tharparkar and 1,35,831 sacks of 100 kilogram have been distributed among 2,71,662 families of the district, said Deputy Commissioner Tharparkar, Dr Shahzad Thaheem.
The DC said that every family was getting 50 kilograms of wheat under the relief distribution program and remaining houses would be provided wheat soon, said a hand out issued by Sindh Infor-mation Department here Thursday, Negligence in wheat distribution would not be tolerated, he said.
He said that Sindh government had not left people of Tharparkar alone in their hard time and they were provided with free wheat as well as clean drinking water and health facilities. He said efforts were being made to improve the situation in the area.
Meanwhile, it is reported that Deputy Commissioner Tharparkar, Dr. Shahzad Thaheem, has said that medical camps would be arranged in remote areas of the district to provide people of Thar better health care facilities at their door step.
Presiding over a meeting on Thursday regarding health situation, the DC directed Assistant Commissioner and health officials of the district and NGO activists to visit far flung ares of Tharparkar to get first hand knowledge of problems being faced by local communities so that such issues could be resolved on priority basis.
He was of the view that health situation in the district was gradually improving but still it required collective efforts from all stakeholders to further improve the overall situation.
He called for collecting data of expecting moth-ers, neonatal, infants as well as vulnerable mothers and children residing in urban or rural areas of the district so that they could be provided required health care.
The DC directed all town officers to carry out anti-mosquito spray regularly in all urban as well as rural areas and neg-ligence in this regard would not be accepted.—INP
