The President of the Federation of Pakistan Chambers of Commerce and Industry (FPCCI) Zubair F. Tufail has eulogized the remarkable services that had been rendered by S.M. Muneer during his tenure as Chief Executive, Trade Development Authority of Pakistan (TDAP) in espousing the cause of business community in general and TDAP in particular.
The President FPCCI while paying tributes to S. M. Muneer elaborated that the efforts made by him in making TDAP a corruption-free and business friendly entity, bailing it out from huge losses and running it on no-loss-no-profit basis soon after assuming the Office of Chief Executive TDAP in March, 2014. He said that S.M. Muneer during this period, through his devoted and dedicated services has brought about revolutionary changes in TDAP in a short span of time which have not only been appreciated by person not less than the Prime Minster of Pakistan, Mr. Ishaq Dar, Federal Finance Minister and Eng. Khurram Dastgir, Federal Commerce Minister but also the business community of the country.
The FPCCI Chief further urged that the visionary person like S.M. Muneer should also be appointed in other loss making State Own Enterprises (SOEs) as the TDAP has now become a benchmark and role model for them to emulate so that the revolutionary changes should also be made in the shortest possible period.
The President FPCCI recalled, “Prior to 2013; the TDAP was plunged into mega corruption of Rs. 13 billion scandals involving high profile political and bureaucratic personalities who are now facing trial in FIA and honorable High Court. The FPCCI Chief informed that S.M. Muneer who is visionary leader of FPCCI and entire business community of Pakistan had accepted the Chief Executive slot of TDAP in 2014 at a time when nobody was prepared to accept the top slot of TDAP. Since 2013, after cleansing of its House, the TDAP has been steadily progressing in procuring export orders’ and promotion of Pakistan soft image on international horizons”.
He informed that on recommendations and proposals the Prime Minister had recently announced a special package of Rs. 180 billion for exporters, wherein, emphasizes have been made on addressing these issues including expeditious refunds to exporters and improvement in domestic supply chain with the help of Provincial and Federal Board of Investments.
Zubair F. Tufail further informed that more than 100 trade delegations and over 140 international exhibitions organized by the TDAP in the tenure of S. M. Muneer, which yielded fruitful and meaningful results. He also recalled that EXPO Pakistan, WEXNET, Aalishan Pakistan, India and Sri Lanka and TEXPO turned out to be a great success which were attended by a large number of foreign buyers placed substantial export orders besides entering into joint ventures in export oriented industries. The expenses incurred on these events were considerable less than the expense incurred on the same previous events, which is appreciable.
President FPCCI said his distinct services would always be remembered by the business community which is role model for the others. He wished S. M. Muneer all success in the time to come.
