Islamabad—Former Chief Justice of Pakistan and Chairman of Justice & Democratic Party (JDP) Justice Retired Iftikhar Muhammad Chaudhry is going to flex his political muscle tomorrow, March 23 (Pakistan Day) by holding a public rally-cum-lecture at a local school in Islamabad’s rural area. The exact venue of the gathering, however, is not being shared due to security reasons. According to the spokesperson of the former Chief Justice, Barrister Ehsanuddin Sheikh, in his lecture Justice Iftikhar Chaudhry will share his political vision in line with the concept of a progressive, peaceful and prosperous Pakistan dreamed by Quaid-e-Azam Mohammad Ali Jinnah.
Barrister Sheikh said the Chairman of the JDP will also announce party programme on the occasion to take along the masses in his movement for a corruption-free Pakistan. JDP is a democratic party and will provide the masses equal opportunity to go the top ranks of the party and get their voice heard, he said. It may be mentioned that there is no end to the government bashing by Justice Chaudhry who keeps taking the rulers to the task for their ‘failure to address real issues.’
The real issues, according to the ex-CJP are terrorism, poverty, unemployment, ignorance, poor law and order and class system while the government has failed to address them. “Pakistan Justice & Democratic Party is the only party that has adopted a resolution against terrorism,” says Justice Iftikhar.
Although the former Chief Justice is actively participating and appearing at public forums in order to make his party a mainstream party, yet so far, the party has succeeded only to attract a section of the lawyers’ community.
Ehsanuddin Sheikh, former President of the Islamabad High Court Bar, Nayab Hasan Gardezi, Nasir Shehzad and Salim Ahmed Sindhu are among the prominent members of his party who do all the leg work and organize the party at various levels. The party has also announced its organizing committee for Islamabad that would be responsible for the party membership in the country and would make the party active at the federal level. The organizing committee’s members are Saliheen Mughal, Abdul Khaliq Thind, Zarrin Kanwal, Hasan Ilyas Kaifi, Salim Ahmed Sindhu, Nyla Rubi, Hakim Qaisar and Ikram Ullah. After the public gathering, Justice Iftikhar Chaudhry will also lead a rally and show his political power.
