Former AIG Sindh jailed for 10 years in corruption case

An accountability court in Karachi on Tuesday handed out 10-year imprisonment to former Assistant Inspector General of police (AIG) Logistics Tanveer Hussain Tahir in a case involving embezzlement of Rs50 million of government funds.The accountability judge also imposed a fine of Rs25 million on the former top cop.
He, however, exonerated former AIG (Finance) Syed Fida Hussain Shah from corruption charges levelled against him in the case.
According to National Accountability Bureau (NAB) officials, both the police officers were accused of embezzling Rs 50 million of government funds released for paying off fuel charges and making special security arrangements for Muharram.
