Food Act sparks protest in Srinagar

Srinagar—The implementation of National Food Security Act (NFSA) yet again sparked a protest in summer capital Srinagar and this time it were the residents of Batamaloo who blocked traffic for hours on Wednesday.
Eyewitnesses told CNS that scores of protesters including women hit to roads and disrupted vehicular movement on Batamaloo-Tengpora road resulting in the massive traffic jam.
The protesters were demanding roll back of National Food Security Act which was implemented in J&K since February 15. “We are getting only 5 kgs person which has brought us on the verge of starvation,” the locals said.—RK
