Tolerance floodlit tennis ball cricket tournament has started in the city under the auspices of the district sports department.
Deputy Commissioner Aamer Khattak inaugurated the eight-day event by hitting a ball in a colourful ceremony, held at district sports complex.
A dance party presented traditional dance on this occasion.
Speaking on the occasion, the DC said that the district government would extend full cooperation for promoting sports activities in the city.
Eight teams consisting of students of seminaries, universities and clubs are participating in the event.
District Sports Officer Muhammad Jameel Kamran said on the occasion that the district administration, in collaboration with an NGO, was conducting the event.
Two matches were decided on the fist day of the event. Janoon Challenger beat Sultan Thunders. Sultan Thunders scored 96 runs. Kamran made 43 runs with six sixes.
Janoon Challengers chased the target for loss of five wickets. Shahid Bashir from Janoon made 40 runs with four sixes and two fours.
In the second match, Chenab United chased the 111 runs target given by the Punjab Stallions for the loss of one wicket.
Adnan Khan from Stallions made 62 runs with four sixes and four fours. While Kaleem from Chenab made 53 runs with eight sixes and one four.
Muhammad Mursaleen and Moula Dad acted as umpires while Muhammad Bilal Hanif was official scorer. —APP
