Flag hoisting ceremony on 61st National Day of Malaysia

In line with the celebrations of 61st National Day of Malaysia, a flag hoisting ceremony was held here at Malaysian Consulate, which was attended by the Consulate officials and other Malaysians residing in Sindh province.
The day falling on August 31 is celebrated by Malaysian missions and the citizens spred the world over, along with series of colorful events being held throughout Malaysia, said press release issued by the Consulate on Thursday. Consul General of Malaysia in Karachi Khairul Nazran Abd Rahman, in his remarks on this occasion, said August 31 was a momentous day in Malaysia’s history as on this day 61 years back, the country became a sovereign state. He expressed Malaysia’s appreciation for Pakistan, who is one of the few countries recognizing Malaysia’s independence in 1957. Since then, he added, both countries had been collaborating in the various fields/activities including political, economic defence, education and tourism.
He reiterated Malaysia’s commitment to further strengthen and increase the breadth and depth of its relations with Pakistan in various sectors for mutual benefits. The diplomat thanked, Pakistan always appreciated the sacrifice and struggle by Malaysian leaders and fighters for getting freedom to the nation. Now, he emphasized, huge responsibilities lied on the shoulders of Malaysians to bring the country forward amidst global challenges and the future is in their hands.He expressed Malaysia’s appreciation for Pakistan, who is one of the few countries recognizing Malaysia’s independence in 1957. Since then, he added, both countries had been collaborating in the various fields/activities including political, economic defence, education and tourism.
