Five killed in rain-related incidents in city

Karachi—At least five people were killed in rain- related incidents in the metropolis on Sunday, as the Met Office said the current rain spell is expected to continue for the next 24 hours.
According to an official of Edhi Ambulance Service Jabbar (26) was electrocuted in Sector-7 of Surjani Town, Javed (38) died because of electric current in Clifton area near Ziauddin Hospital, while Muhammad Shoaib (32) was electrocuted in North Karachi.
Nazeer (60) was killed as the roof of a quarter caved in near PIDC. While Nazeer Khan (32) was killed as a wall collapsed in MPR Colony, the official of the Edhi Ambulance Service added.
An official of the Met Office said that till 5.00 p.m. on Sunday the rain recorded in Karachi was 54 mm in Karachi’s Landhi/Quaidabad area.
The rain recorded at PAF Base Faisal was 31 mm and Gulistan-i-Jauhar 29.5 mm, while Gulshan-i-Hadeed received 25 mm of rain.
In North Karachi 17.6 mm of rain was recorded, at PAF Base Masroor 10 mm and in Saddar 08 mm. The Met Office official said that more rain was expected in Karachi till Monday evening.
He said that the maximum temperature was expected to remain between 31 to 33 degrees centigrade during the period.
The maximum temperature recorded on Sunday was 29.8 degrees Centigrade whereas the minimum was 27.5 degrees Centigrade. The humidity was 85 percent in the morning whereas it was 88 percent in the evening.
