Adviser to Prime Minister on climate change, Malik Amin Aslam Khan has indicated the first-ever National Wildlife policy to be announced soon after approval by the cabinet. A draft of the policy will be submitted to the federal cabinet for approval later this month.
The Prime Minister’s adviser stated this while chairing a meeting of Wildlife and forest departments here at Ministry of climate change Islamabad here Wednesday.
Federal secretary climate change Khizar Hayat Khan and senior officials from Wildlife and forest department were also present in the meeting.
Adviser to PM on climate change said a comprehensive wildlife policy is the dire need of the time to provide adequate protection to the Wildlife habitats. He stressed upon the wildlife department for early completion of “National Consultation” on the policy document. So that it could be submitted to the cabinet at the earliest.
Malik Amin Aslam Khan further said that present government has decided to adopt a zero tolerance policy towards illegal trade and hunting of the wild life and directed its authorities to take all out efforts to preserve our precious wildlife.
