The first consignment of Orange Line Metro Train containing three coaches and two engines has arrived in Lahore. A spokesman of the Punjab Mass Transit Authority said here Monday that the launching of the first Orange Line Metro Train will be held on the 7th of this month. He said efforts are underway to complete Orange Line Metro Train project by December this year.
While presiding over a high-level meeting, here today, Punjab Chief Minister Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif has said that Orange Line Metro Train is a gigantic project of public interest which is meant for the whole of the country. Orange Line Metro Train Project is an important milestone towards providing latest transport facility to the common man. In this regard, the arrival of first set of bogies of Orange Line Metro Train from China to Lahore is good news, he added.
The meeting was attended by senior Pakistan Muslim League-N leader and head of steering committee of Orange Line Metro Train Khawaja Ahmad Hassan, Spokesman Punjab government Malik Ahmad Khan, Chief Secretary, MD Punjab Mass Transit Authority and other officials.
Addressing the meeting, the Chief Minister said that it is the right of the people to utilize such transport facilities which are accessible to the elite. After the completion of Orange Line Metro Train Project, lakhs of ordinary citizens will travel in a peaceful and dignified way. Like the Metro Bus Project, completion of this initiative will provide affordable transport of international standards to the people and they will also get rid of outdated means of public transport.
