Fine imposed with 149 FIRs against hoarders of fruit, vegetables

Deputy Commissioner Rawalpindi Tallat Mehmood Gondal has taken strict notice of the unusual increase in fruits and vegetable wholesale and retail rates in the markets and directed ACs as well as Price Control Magistrates to bring rates at normal level. He said that whole team of district administration is active in this regard and we are taking strict legal action against the hoarders and shopkeepers who are creating difficulty for citizens for their vested interests.
While sharing the details Commissioner Rawalpindi said that in this month till now 1868 places have been inspected by our Assistant Commissioners, Price control Magistrates, ADCs and other officials. A total of 1143900 rupees fine has been imposed so far. In addition to this, 149 FIRs were also registered.
Moreover Talal Mahmood Gondal added that the prices of fruits and vegetables are linked to demand and supply however district administration is taking action against those who are creating artificial inflation and exploiting the situation of late crops. He said that officials are visiting Bazars and markets so that prices can be significantly reduced to bring relief for the public.
