Karachi—State Minister for National Health Services Regulation and Coordination, Saira Afzal Tarar Friday said that the Federal Government had presented the gift of peace to the Karachiites, which has no alternate.
She said that the overall situation of the commercial hub of the country is getting better and better. She expressed these views while addressing the ambulances distribution ceremony at Jinnah Post Graduate Medical Centre (JPMC), here.
The ambulances have been provided by the China, to which the Minister expressed gratitude to Chinese for their contribution for improving health services in Pakistan.
A total of 80 ambulances equipped with essential facilities have been provided by China, she said adding that the cost of each ambulance is around Rs 9 million.
She pointed out that these ambulances will be distributed among the hospitals in Sindh, Balochistan, Punjab, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Islamabad, FATA and Azad Kashmir. Sindh to get 20 ambulances, she added.
She said that a total 20 ambulances are being provided to the hospitals in Sindh and expressed her hope that these will be used as per requirement.
She also called for need to further improve the health system and said there is no lack of resources in the country.
The State Minister observed that the JPMC is among those institutes which are credible for the public in terms of health services facilities to the masses.
She said that Karachiites have always extended full support to the victims in times of natural disasters.
Saira Afzal said that we should serve the masses without any discrimination and all political parties need to serve with same zeal.
After passage of 18th Constitutional Amendment, many subjects including health have been transferred to province, therefore, the provinces should take concrete steps for the welfare of the masses. The State Minister also advised the doctors to consider service to the people as worship.
She also handed down keys of the ambulances to the representatives of Sindh, Balochistan, Punjab, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Islamabad, FATA and Azad Kashmir. Earlier, Sindh Secretary Health, Saeed Ahmed said that the Sindh government is making all-out efforts to improve health services.
