FCCI takes lead

CHINESE Ambassador Sun Weidong will visit Faisalabad next month to inaugurate a Chinese desk at the Chamber of Commerce and Industry in a bid to facilitate businessmen planning to launch joint ventures with Chinese counterparts under the industrial cooperation phase of the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC). According to Vice President of Faisalabad Chamber Engineer Ahmed Hassan, the Chinese desk would help provide necessary information and guidance to the businessmen associated with the FCCI who were eager to participate in the investment phase.
There is no doubt that current phase of CPEC mainly relates to infrastructure building and development but all the projects would ultimately help accelerate the pace of industrialisation in the country. Availability of world class infrastructure and adequate energy would not only encourage local investors to make investment in different sectors but also attract investors from across the globe. As soon as industrial estates under CPEC are established, there is expected to be a quantum jump both in investment and industrial activities. There are reports of a number of Chinese companies planning to make investments in Pakistan and shift their production lines here. They would definitely be searching for local partners for understandable reasons, therefore, the decision of the FCCI to establish a Chinese desk is a step in the right direction. We hope that other Chambers would follow the suit and also devise comprehensive strategies to take advantage of the emerging opportunities with the implementation of the CPEC.
