Fatima Jinnah symbol of courage, struggle: Mashhood

Lahore—The life of Madir-e-Milat Mohtarma Fatima Jinnah is a symbol of struggle for women of Pakistan as she activated women to participate in the Pakistan Movement.
These words were expressed by Punjab Education Minister Rana Mashhood while addressing a special ceremony organised by the Nazria Pakistan Trust in connection with the 124th birth anniversary of Mohtarma Fatima Jinnah held at Aiwan e Karkunan e Tahreek e Pakistan on Sunday.
The minister was the chief guest of the ceremony while former president Rafique Tarar presided over the sitting.
The minister said the government was taking several steps for improvement of education quality in the province and urged teachers to focus on character building of students.
“Mohtarma Fatima Jinnah raised the very first voice against dictatorship and struggled for democracy”, he added.
Other speakers also paid homage to sacrifices, contribution and services of Mohtarma Fatima Jinnah for the country and democracy .
Renowned scholars, intellectuals and politicians, including Professor Dr Rafique Ahmad, Begum Mehnaz Rafi, Begum Safia Ishaq, Qayyum Nizami, Begum Khalida Jameel, Begum Hamid Rana, Shamsa Ali, Saeeda Qazi and others also addressed.—APP
