Fatemi for collective political will, resources for SDGs

Islamabad—Special Assistant to Prime Minister on Foreign Affairs (SAPM), Syed Tariq Fatemi Wednesday called for mobilizing collective political will and resources to ensure progress towards the Sustainable Development Goals (SGDs).
Talking to Executive Secretary, United Nations Economic and Social Commission for Asia and the Pacific (ESCAP) Dr. Shamshad Akhtar who called on him here at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the SAPM reiterated Pakistan’s continued support for its work.
He also appreciated the invaluable contribution being made by UNESCAP for promoting the goals of socio-economic integration and sustainable development in the Asia Pacific region.
The Special Assistant also highlighted that Pakistan had already initiated action on the national goals to promote the Post-2015 Development Agenda.
He informed that a robust national mechanism had also been created for the monitoring and implementation of all goals and targets in this regard.
The Executive Secretary acknowledged the positive contribution of Pakistan for promoting the objectives of UNESCAP, and welcomed the initiatives of the Government of Pakistan towards the achievement of Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).
