FATA reforms likely in August

Bajaur Agency—Member National Assembly (MNA) PML-N Shahabuddin Khan said reforms package, to be announced by the mid of August 2016, would prove to be a game-changer for tribal areas.
Taking to media men at Pashat here, the MNA said all was set to implement the reforms package in tribal areas which had been recommended by the Fata Reforms Committee.
He said tribal people were fed up of the centuries-old colonial system and drastic reforms were necessary to offer basic and fundamental civic rights to the people of FATA, adding the reforms package would be according to aspirations of general public.
He hoped that reforms package would not only ensure equitable social justice system in the tribal areas but would also repeal the Frontier Crimes Regulation in the region.
Regarding Nizam-e-Adal system proposed by Fata Reforms Committee, the MNA said such system was the best way to provide easy and speedy justice to tribal people.
He claimed that majority of people in the tribal areas including workers of political and religious parties were in favor of Nizam-e-Adal in the region as introduction of such system was the long standing demand of tribal people.
He pointed out that the enforcement of Nizam-e-Adal in tribal areas would not only reduce miseries and hurdles of the people but also ensure safety of local culture and traditions.—APP
