FATA beat GB in National Jr Hockey Championship

Peshawar—FATA defeated Gilgit-Baltistan (GB) by 5-2 in a thrilling match of the ongoing National Junior Under-20 Boys Hockey Championship being played here at Lala Ayub Hockey Stadium on Saturday.
FATA relatively played bar better from the other matches they played against KP White, Punjab White and even Islamabad and gave a tough resistance to GB. FATA was lucky taking an early lead through Faiz, the right winger in the very 3rd minute of the match while Karam made it 2-0 by scoring a beautiful field goal in the 7th minute.
Gilgit-Baltistan did strong resistance even after conceding two early goal and succeeded in leveling the tally when center forward Rashad Iqbal scored twice – in the 17th and 21st minute on field attempts.
When the tally was levelled 2-all, both FATA and GB raided on each other territories with some fine moves and they even paid for their moves as both wasted four each penalty corner due to poor handling.
At half-time FATA and GB was locked 2-2. After the resumption of the second session FATA dominated the proceedings and scored three more goals to make the tally 5-2.
First this was left winger Adeel Nawaz who slammed in a perfect goal from the his left position before dribbling past two defenders and even the on rushing Gilgit-Baltistan goal-keeper Umair.
It was an excellent show of dodging and dribbling and scoring. In the meantime Fahad scored a field goal from the top of the circle after receiving a long hit from the left full-back Ayub Khan and did nothing wrong in dispatching it into the net by leaving rival goal-keeper guessing.
It was in the dying moments when FATA scored another goal through Yar Rehman on the field attempt to make the tally 5-2.
Gilgit-Baltistan players did some resistance but with no unionism and thus FATA won the match by 5-2. The match was supervised by Haroon Khan (PAF) and Afsar Khan (Wapda) while Master Khan and Mudassir acted as judges.—APP
