Farmer-friendly policies yielding positive results

Lahore—Provincial Agriculture Minister Dr Farrukh Javed has termed the fiscal budget 2016-17 balanced and farmers friendly.
Commenting on the annual budget on Sunday, he paid tribute to Prime Minister Muhammad Nawaz Sharif and Federal Minister Ishaq Dar for presenting people friendly budget.
“Federal government by accepting the demands of farmers like reducing the prices of DAP, Urea, and decreasing the electricity rate for tube-wells have proved that PML-N government is sincere in resolving problems of the farmers,” he added. He said the provision of interest-free loans to the farmers would bring visible improvement in the agriculture sector.
The minister said that agriculture was the backbone of the economy and government had announced unprecedented steps for its uplift.
“Our farmers are hard working and the country is blessed with fertile land and under such scenario the farmers friendly policies of the government will yield positive results.” he added. It was earlier reported that exporters, manufacturers and farmers hailed the federal budget 2016-17 and termed it business and agri-friendly. The incentives announced in the budget would surely help in enhancing the export volume considerably and help reduce problems of the farmers community too, they said. Talking to newsmen on Sunday, SCCI President Mansor Ahmad said declaring industries of sports goods, surgical instruments, leather and textile garment sectors zero rated was a right step in a right direction.—APP
