Dr. Frank-Walter Steinmeier, Foreign Minister of the Federal Republic of Germany has sent a congratulatory letter to H.E. Dr. Yousef A. Al-Othaimeen, on his election as Secretary General of the Organisation of Islamic Cooperation (OIC).
In the letter he personally signed, Foreign Minister Steinmeier noted that in the last few years, Germany and Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) have been able to considerably step up their cooperation.
“At a time of many crises, I hope that I can work together with you to promote peace, mutual understanding and universal values. The Organisation of Islamic Cooperation plays a key role in these goals,” said German Foreign Minister. “I had some very good and productive talks with your predecessor. In order to consolidate this development and to maintain our close contacts, the German Government has appointed a Special Representative for Relations with the Organisation of Islamic Cooperation,” he added.
Foreign Minister Steinmier also stressed that he would be delighted if the planned trip to Jeddah in December by Ambassador Sabine Sparwaser, the Special Representative of Germany for Afghanistan and Pakistan and Head of the Political Directorate-General at the Federal Foreign Office will provide the first opportunity for Germany and OIC to further expand their relationship.—Email
