Farah Ispahani quits PPP

Staff Reporter

Karachi—Farah Ispahani, a law maker, and research scholar, has resigned from the PPP, saying she did not find it worthwhile to remain in an organization, which has distanced itself from her husband, Hussain Haqqani, a former ambassador to US, who recently said something that was not acceptable to the party leadership.
“I cannot find a place for myself in a party where space for many schools of thought, faiths, castes and creeds has shrunken,” Ispahani said in a letter to PPP’s Chairman Bilawal Bhutto Zardari.
“It is with a heavy heart that I write these words. I entered politics at the urging of your mother, Shaheed Mohtarma Benazir Bhutto. I hope to always follow in her path of dignity and the politics of conscience.
