Experts call for hygienic diet to ensure good health

A national seminar on Public health safety held here on Wednesday at Allama Iqbal Open University (AIOU) to promote awareness about proper nutrition and to educate the people about the health-care preventive measures.
The program, arranged by the University’s department of Environmental deigns, Health and Nutrition Sciences was well attended by the students and Faculty members of the AIOU and some other local Universities.
Prominent experts in the field were the resource persons who deliberated upon the topic of ‘Health and sustainability’.
It was the part of the University’s consistent efforts, providing research-based academic input to the society in addressing socio-economic issues under the leadership of Vice Chancellor Professor Dr. Zia-Ul-Qayyum.
According to Dr. Hajra Ahmed, chairperson of the Department, the University’s programs are focused on healthy lifestyle and development of environment-friendly cities and towns.
It was also an effort to help the government to achieve Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). The University over the years has been encouraging and motivating academicians to focus on community health and safety services.
It is already offering MSc to Ph.D degrees in the field, focusing on healthy life-style.
The resource persons Dr. Rezzan Khan of Shifa International hospital, Engr. Abid Ali Water resource specialist and Imtiaz Aslam of EDCONS institute of Business and technology highlighted the significant of the topic and underlined the need of promoting nitration education at mass-scale level through social media and other sources. Dean Sciences Dr. Syed Zafar Ilyas thanked the participants for their valuable input during the seminar.
Meanwhile, he said not everyone are allergic to pollen but, pollen may trigger allergic reactions and asthma in people who have pollen allergies, adding, allergies from pollen grains worsen during spring and summer season because more pollen are produced during this part of the year.
He warned that people suffering from asthma and respiratory diseases will experience serious consequences due to a sharp increase in pollen concentrations.
