Expanding job opportunities for persons with disabilities urged

In connection with promoting abilities and supporting dignified living, a job fair 2017 for persons with disabilities held under the LC Disability and Development Programme (LCDDP) Pakistan here on Thursday.
The event was organized with the cooperation of Sightsavers and HANDS. Various public and private sector organizations set up stalls to interview and register disabled persons. Prominent among others, Imran Nazir, Sarwat Mirza, Advisor HAI UK Ms. Diana, WHO Advisor Dr. Marium, Farzana Bari, Muhammad Aslam Maitla, Nabeela Malik were prominent among others who had extended their support to organize the event for persons with disabilities.
Addressing the ceremony, the head of LCDDP, Imran Nazir said that 11,851 persons with disabilities registered out of them 4,679 were trained in different skills while 3379 had been provided jobs according to their capabilities. He said that people with disabilities can do wonders if they are provided suitable opportunities in every field of life. Imran said that media should come forward to highlight issues and rights of people with disabilities.
The other speakers also laid emphasis on expanding job opportunities for persons with disabilities and said that they can earn their livelihood with pride and honour after availing job opportunities.
