Ethical, quality journalism enhances collective awareness of society

President AGAHI Puruesh Chaudhary Saturday said ethical and quality journalism enhanced collective awareness of a society and built a nation’s identity and purpose by promoting democratic and moral values.
“The AGAHI celebrates recognizes the efforts of journalists and the media community every year,” he said while addressing an annual AGAHI awards ceremony here at Pakistan National Council of Arts.
The best of the media industry determined for ethical journalism from all across the country, he said, were recognized as ‘journalists of the year’ in their respective categories.
He said the AGAHI Awards acknowledged journalists’ professional commitment to promoting accountability for safeguarding public interest.
The objective of AGAHI awards was to recognize and appreciate the best journalistic practices in the country, creating a healthy competition within the media, encouraging ethical and professional reporting practices, he added.
Head of Corporate Affairs, Nestle Waqar Ahemd on the occasion said that AGAHI Awards recognizes ‘accountability’ as the key currency for public trust in this evolving attention economy, where media becomes the platform to promote social values and transparency. He said that AGAHI awards is the recognition of journalists who have shown personal integrity and professional excellence to make Pakistan a more informed nation.
On the occasion, Kashif Abbasi from ARY News was given the Most Credible Anchor of the Year, Shazaib Khanzada, Geo News got Peoples Choice Award-Male and Ayesha Baksh, Geo News secured Peoples Choice Award-Female.
Leading opinion makers, senior journalists, policy makers, diplomats, ambassadors, academicians, leading professionals from the media industry and representatives from think tanks attended the award ceremony.—APP
