Ensuring quality healthcare

Saqib Ali

The news that judiciary will help ensure quality healthcare services to the poor in the country calls into question tall claims by the government for rendering invaluable services for the poor and ailing humanity. There is no denying the fact that for the provision of better medical facilities to the public at large, accountability of medical institutions is essential but, I believe, that for this the incumbent government must play its part.
If the government boasts of having healthcare among its top most priorities then it is the responsibility of the government and not judiciary to ensure provision of quality healthcare. It is hoped that the government would keep its promise of serving the sick and ailing humanity as nothing is more important than health of the people.
